Anniston Sgt. James Studdard said a 45-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet Cavalier south on Coleman Road near Cherry Drive when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and collided with a Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 53-year-old woman in the opposite lane. The sergeant said the Cavalier slid off the road and flipped on its roof. Studdard said the man was taken to Regional Medical Center for treatment and the female driver did not report any injuries.
Studdard said the responding officer estimated the man was driving 45 mph, which is 10 mph over the speed limit.
“That road gets particularly slippery when it rains; just driving a little over the speed limit can cause the car to hydroplane,” Studdard said.
