The Eagles did it with a 36-26 win over Ramsay in the Class 5A Northeast Regional semifinals. The program is in its seventh season of existence, as the school opened eight years ago.
The prize for Columbia's accomplishment? A matchup with No. 1-ranked Brewer, which has beaten the Eagles in all three of their matchups this year. The average margin of victory is 25 points a game.
Today, however, Columbia (17-17) outplayed favored Ramsay (22-8) with a strong defensive effort.
Columbia trailed 13-5 midway through the second period before outscoring Ramsay 10-0 the rest of the way to intermission.
Jasmynn Batts led the way with 17 points and three rebounds, while Destiny Reynolds added eight points and five rebounds.
Takayla Blackburn had five points and 15 rebounds for Ramsay.
