Timothy Lamar Hutchinson, 26, of Anniston, allegedly took his 43-year-old ex-girlfriend’s 2000 Honda Accord on Jan. 28 after the two had an argument, Anniston Sgt. Chris Sparks said. The woman reported the stolen car to police immediately after the theft. Hutchinson was discovered driving the car in Oxford the same day, Sparks said.
Oxford police attempted to pull Hutchinson over, but he fled in the vehicle, Oxford Lt. L.G. Owens said. Owens said Hutchinson also has active warrants for his arrest on charges of third-degree domestic violence and second-degree criminal mischief.
The police pursuit ended near 15th Street and Noble Street in Anniston, Sparks said, when Hutchinson left the vehicle and ran from police. The car was left with two flat tires after the chase, Sparks said. Hutchinson’s identity was later determined through a police investigation and he was subsequently charged on Friday, the sergeant said.
Hutchinson was in the Calhoun County Jail on Monday afternoon, Sparks said, with bond set at $12,000. A court date is scheduled for March 7.
