The Alabama football team is headed to Washington.

President Barack Obama has invited the Crimson Tide to the White House to honor its national championship season. The team will visit Wednesday at 1:05 p.m.

In a news release from the White House, Obama also will recognize "efforts by the Crimson Tide to give back to their community."

This is the third time in four years Alabama has visited the White House. Obama also extended invitations to Nick Saban's squads after their 2009 and 2011 national championships.

In the spring of 1993, Bill Clinton honored Alabama's 1992 national championship team.
