Five California schools made the uber-popular NCAA basketball tournament. Same for North Carolina.

Four Indiana schools made the Big Dance.

Three teams each from Kansas, Ohio and Virginia received bids.

Two New Mexico teams made the 68-team field.

So did two Louisiana teams.

A Montana team got in.

Ditto for a South Dakota team. (They play basketball in South Dakota?)

Meanwhile, Alabama’s best basketball teams earned the same number of NCAA bids as did teams from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and North Dakota.

Zero.

When does football start?
