A woman was reportedly kidnapped and raped early this morning, according to Anniston police.

A 29-year-old woman told police the crime occurred on the 1900 block of Rocky Hollow Road between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 2 a.m. today, Sgt. Chris Sparks said.

During that time, Sparks said, the woman was taken to another area on Rocky Hollow Road, leading police to investigate the incident as a kidnapping. Sparks said the victim was forcibly sexually assaulted and “somebody found her” afterwards and took her to Stringfellow Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries she is expected to recover from.

Sparks would not release more information on how the victim was found. The sergeant said he was releasing only “limited information due to the sensitive nature of the case.”

Sparks said this afternoon that the incident is still under investigation. A suspect will likely face charges of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and first-degree kidnapping, all felonies.
