Every year, teachers and school systems try to bribe the students with pizza parties, fun days, etc., just to get them to take the test seriously. A little common sense will tell you the students are not trying their best on these tests when they know it doesn’t count for anything.
The state Legislature does not support core testing — criticizing “one-size-fits-all approach to education.” But legislators are quick to classify a school as failing based on standardized tests.
Again, all standard testing needs to have accountability from the ground up, starting with the students. If the student does not “pass” the test, he should not pass to the next grade.
All this school testing is a waste of money (I hate to think how much) if all are not held accountable.
