Police today were investigating the theft of more than $1,400 from a business on Leighton Avenue last year.

Anniston Sgt. Chris Sparks said an employee of a company on the 400 block of South Leighton Avenue removed $1,455.47 from an account belonging to the business. A police report shows the incident occurred on April 3, 2012.

Sparks said police were investigating how the money was taken. A suspect was named, but police had not spoken to him, Sparks said Wednesday.

A suspect will likely face second-degree theft charges, a felony, according to a police report.
