Alabama State Troopers today released the names of two drivers injured in an wreck on U.S. 431 in Hollis Crossroads Thursday afternoon.

Casey Scott Champion, of Jacksonville, was driving a 2005 Ford Taurus when it crashed with a 1999 Chevy Silverado driven by Willis Darryl Lambert, of Wedowee.

The accident occurred at 1:05 p.m. Thursday according to Trooper Charles Dysart, public information officer.

Champion was transported to Regional Medical Center in Anniston by Cleburne Emergency Medical Service. Champion has been released, according to RMC.

Lambert was transported by air ambulance to the UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Employees with UAB said Lambert was undergoing surgery on Friday.

Hollis Fire and Rescue received a call to respond to the crash at 1:15 p.m. said Chief Dan Hopkins.

Hopkins said Thursday that both drivers had to be cut out of their vehicles. Lambert was also trapped by the dashboard of the truck, Hopkins said.

Lambert was semi-conscious and unable to talk when he was transported to UAB Hospital, Hopkins said. Two passengers in the truck, an adult and a child were picked up by friends, he said.

The Heflin Fire Department and Cleburne Sheriff’s deputies also responded to the crash Thursday.
