A man reported receiving a phone call this morning from someone attempting to collect donations under the guise of Oxford Police Department.

Oxford Lt. L.G. Owens said the man received two calls from a Montgomery area code asking for his credit card information to collect money for the department.

“The Oxford Police Department does not solicit money from people,” Owens said.

Police have only received one report this morning, Owens said, but he urges anyone who’s received a similar phone call to call the Oxford Tip Line at 256-835-6122.
