The issue of same-sex marriage is not a civil-rights issue. Speak Out writer Darryl Wellington compared same-sex marriage with that of skin color. That is inaccurate.
Skin color cannot be changed. One is born with their particular skin color and it will stay the same color one’s entire life. Homosexuality is defined by a behavior. There have been many who have chosen to leave the homosexual lifestyle.
Families are the foundation of our society and a foundation of national strength. Marriage brings together a man and a woman to be husband and wife and to be father and mother to any children they may have. Marriage is based on the fact that reproduction depends on a man and a woman.
Forty-one states say that marriage is between one man and one woman. Adults in this country are free to live as they choose. However, homosexual activists insist on forcing everyone to approve of their lifestyle.
Redefining marriage would hurt children the most. It has been shown that children do best when raised in a family of a married mother and father. Redefining marriage will not stop with homosexual marriage. What about polygamy? What about two men and three women? What about marrying an animal?
When you start redefining marriage, there is no longer a foundation for the family, thus our society and our country. They will all decline.
