Women’s Club places pinwheels

Jacksonville Women’s Club members and Paige Phillips from Jacksonville State University’s ZTA-Zeta Psi, helped with pinwheel placement on April 1.

The pinwheels were placed in the vacant lot next to Almaroad Properties. They represent the total number of children who were interviewed at the Calhoun/Cleburne Children’s Center last year. A total of 344 pinwheels were placed in two locations in

Calhoun County.

The April meeting was in the home of Beverly Almaroad. It was brought to order by president Adrianne Curvin. The invocation was delivered by chaplain Celia Almaroad. Ranae Coheley read the last month’s minutes which were approved.

Others attending were Ellen Bethea, Rita Edwards, Joni Ginn, Gina Honts, Rita King, Dale McCartney, Carol McGinnis, Sheila Newell, Jane Ponder, Staci Porter, Veronica Porter, Susan Quinn, Celia Almaroad, Patti McLeod, Margie Rhodes and Phyllis Wright.

The program for April was arts. A crochet demonstration was presented by Gina Honts who also spoke of the huge influence her grandmother had on her crocheting. She showed some items she and her grandmother had made. Donations were items for the Salvation Army Women’s Shelter and My Father’s Arms. Next month’s meeting will be at Effina’s.

The March meeting was at the home of Carol McGinnis.

The program was home life. Donna Brittain from Legal Shield discussed identity theft. She told how to prevent identify theft and explained how her company works to prrevent this for its members.

Adrianne Curvin brought the meeting to order. Celia Almaroad delivered the invocation. Last month’s minutes were read by Ranae Coheley and approved.

New member Gina Honts was welcomed. Others attending were Wendy Boozer, Rita Edwards, Debra English, Joni Ginn, Rita King, Dale McCartney, Sheila Newell, Jane Ponder, Staci Porter, Veronica Porter, Susan Quinn, Peggy Turner, Beverly Almaroad, Rita Boozer, Margie Rhodes and Phyllis Wright.

Donations were items for Jacksonville Health and Rehab and bingo gifts for the senior citizen center. The club also provided a monetary donation to Sav-A-Life.

Next month’s meeting will be at the home of Beverly Almaroad.
