It’s time! Buy Fresh, Buy Local….Looking for strawberries, lettuce, beet greens, swiss chard, kale, & radishes, for all healthy living needs? Strawberries so fresh they stain your fingers? The best food is fresh, local, naturally grown and the Jacksonville Farmers Market is, without a doubt, home to some of the best food and farmers in notheast Alabama.

We will kick off the season on Saturday May, 4th through November 23rd. This year the Jacksonville Farmers Market will be open Saturday mornings from 7-11 a.m. and Monday evenings from 4-7 p.m. beginning June 3rd through Aug 12th. The market is located behind Roma’s, on the Jacksonville Square.

New this year…select farmers now accepting VISA/MC/Debit the market will be accepting EBT (Supplemental Food Program), as well as, Senior Farmers Market Nutritional Vouchers.

The seasonal market draws in farmers from 7 counties, bakers, artisans and local producers of everything from honey to home canned goods, artisan breads, tamales, pesto, goat soap, kefir products, medicinal and culinary herbs and even home churned ice cream – all with a mission to help feed our communities with the best food, products. We desire to emanate a sense of community (a community that unites) to all that come to gather at the farmers market.

The Jacksonville Farmers Market is run by predominately volunteer citizens who hope to present the market in an exciting and beneficial way. The market desires not only focusing on providing quality produce and goods but serving the residents of this area in a way that enhances their quality of life. The market is working to present community organizations and presentations that are not only informative but significant and practical for your daily living. These events will provide information on health and wellness, farm and gardening, and food and nutritional education.

In addition you can support the market by helping with our “Plant a Carrot” Campaign. You can purchase a lawn carrot stake for $3.00 at the market.

or at the Jacksonville Farmers Market. Also we will have a silent auction weekly on our facebook page, and continuing with your ability to register for our basket give-a-away every Saturday.

There may also be other community involvement that will include: working with kids to help develop our future farmers. We are helping establish community sustainable gardens @ Our Father’s Arm & The Eagles Nest Crisis Homes, a place for learning at The Gathering Place in Jacksonville, as an effort to teach growing your own & maintaining the ability to sustain a lifetime of healthy foods for the spirit, soul, mind & body. All of these opportunities are being pursued with the purpose of providing opportunities for us to all grow together for a better comm-unity.
