For the second day in a row, the 12th hole at Cane Creek Golf Course has yielded a hole-in-one. At this rate, it will be as popular to ace as the seventh at its sister city-operated course, Anniston Municipal.

David Brimer scored the ace with a 7-iron. The hole was playing 150 yards and the shot was witnessed by Harold Daugherty, Bill Bartlette, Eddie Gearhart and Norman Cole.

• The sixth annual Maj. Dwayne Williams Golf Classic is Saturday at Anniston Country Club. The two-man scramble still has spots available, but players must pre-register by calling Nancy Turner at 453-8607.

• Sacred Heart’s Jake Peoples qualified for the boys Class 1A-2A sub-state tournament after shooting 74 in the sectional at Highland Park in Birmingham on Monday. People had two birdies and 10 straight pars in his round. The teams from Donoho and Pleasant Valley also qualified to play in Daphne on Tuesday.
