CHARLESTON, Ill. – Rain didn't allow Jacksonville State's softball team to finish its game against SIU Edwardsville on Thursday.

Playing in the second round of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, JSU and SIU Edwardsville were tied 0-0 in the top of the third inning when lightning forced the teams from the field. The game was suspended and will be resumed Friday at 10 a.m.

The Gamecocks escaped a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the bottom of the second before lightning forced a weather delay at 1 p.m. After rain continued to move through the area Thursday, OVC and tournament officials suspended play for the day.

The Gamecocks will be at the plate to start the game today, and the remainder of Thursday's schedule will be played afterward. The rest of the schedule is being moved back one day.

JSU opened the tournament with a 5-3 win over Eastern Kentucky.
