I wish to express my deepest heartfelt feelings concerning the burial of Tamerlan Tsarneav in American soil. Too many servicemen and women have given their lives to ensure that we can live in a country as great as America. Their bodies have been buried all over the world, not to mention other great Americans that helped to preserve the great freedoms that are guaranteed to each of us.

The Tsarneav brothers were granted the privilege to enter this country with the assurance that they could become an American citizen. Instead of not following the basic rules of a good American, the Tsarneav brothers made the choice to destroy what we cherish in America. Their decision has affected many American families and friends in Boston and all across America. Their actions left permanent scars on family and friends that they will have to bear for the rest of their lives.

I saw nothing wrong with releasing Tsarneav’s body to his relatives. However, I feel that it is wrong to allow his body to rest on American soil. I would have suggested cremation of the body and then carry it to sea beyond the continental limit of the United States.

This expresses my true heartfelt feelings about this matter. I thought it would be fitting and proper that I should share them with you. The citizens of Boston are in our thoughts.
