Rebecca F. Anglin of Ranburne High School has received the prestigious Smith Scholarship Award. Rebecca will be attending Auburn University to study Organic Chemistry/Pre-Med.

The Smith Scholarship is not singularly focused on test scores or grades. Instead, the Foundation seeks students who have demonstrated a desire to give back to others through volunteer work or assistance to family, while remaining actively involved in their schools and communities.

Rebecca lost her mother after an eight year battle with illness. She served as her mother’s primary caregiver, while maintaining honor grades and participating in the band and as serving as Editor of the yearbook staff. She was also voted most likely to succeed by her classmates.

The scholarship is valued at up to $60,000, plus study abroad, with mentoring and professional development programs. The Smith Scholarship Foundation is the largest privately funded scholarship program in the State of Alabama.
