KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Defending national champion Alabama was swept out of the Knoxville Super Regional on Saturday with a 5-3 loss to Tennessee.

After losing the opener of the best-of-three series Friday night, Alabama scored three times in the first two innings Saturday for a 3-0 lead.

Molly Fichtner's two-run single in the first inning brought home Kayla Braud and Halie McCleney. In the second, Danae Hays scored from third base when the Lady Vols dropped a McCleney fly ball to the outfield.

But the Lady Vols scored once in the third inning, twice in the fourth and once in the fifth for a 4-3 advantage. Three of those runs came on sacrifice flies.

They added a run in the top of the seventh, then shut down Alabama in the bottom half to secure the win.

Jackie Traina (19-8) was tagged with the loss, allowing four runs, including three three earned on eight hits.

Braud finished her Alabama career as the Tide's all-time leader in batting average at .438. She is second in second in on base percentage (.512), runs (271), hits (344) and stolen bases (182).

Tennessee (49-10) advances to the Women's College World Series, while Alabama completes its season at 45-15.
