Politicians, being human, are prone to mistakes, be they political or personal. That said, common it's become in recent years to watch repentant lawmakers stand before television cameras and apologize for all sorts of marital missteps or other things personally unwise.

The current story surrounding Alabama Sen. Shadrack McGill, R-Woodville, involves no such shenanigans. But it does involve his wife, who used her husband's Facebook page to try to stop women (who may be "fake" women) from sending him pictures and such.

McGill, for those unaware of his political background, is the senator who earlier this year compared abortion to the destruction of an eagle's egg. But that's a whole other story.

Seems the McGills claim all sorts of odd things happened during the previous campaign, things that included at least two mentions of strippers who the senator had neither hired nor requested. If all of this is on the up-and-up, it's apparent that Mrs. McGill is fed up and wants it to stop -- now. Whether McGill's story is an example of the depths of Alabama politics or authentic advances from the senator's admirers remains to be seen. But it's one heck of an Alabama story, nonetheless.
