Two brothers were riding their bicycles in Anniston Saturday afternoon when six young men tried to rob them, according to police.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said the 13-year-old and 12-year-old boys were riding their bikes near 19th Street and Gurnee Avenue when the incident occurred. The boys were approached by six juveniles who attempted to steal the bikes by force, the captain said.

The victims got into a fight with the suspects, George said, but were able to keep their bikes.

The suspects fled before police arrived. The 13-year-old suffered minor swelling on his forehead, George said, but refused medical treatment. The 12-year-old was uninjured.

The robbery was still under investigation this morning, George said.

Suspects could face felony second-degree robbery charges.
