Anniston Cable One customers gained access to faster Internet speeds this week and will soon see more channels with better picture quality on their televisions.

According to a recent press release, cable service provider Cable One began offering faster Internet speeds for purchase earlier this week and will offer around 16 new high definition channels and more than 40 commercial-free music channels at the end of September. The new services are due to Cable One's transition from analog to all-digital technology.

Cable One serves 730,000 customers in 19 states with Internet, cable television and telephone services.

The faster Internet speeds now offered include 60 megabits per second for $75 a month and 70 megabits per second for $100 a month. Cable One's previous fastest Internet speed was 50 megabits per second at $50 a month.

Unlike the Internet speeds, however, the new HD channels will not cost more to access, said Trish Niemann, public relations manager at Cable One’s home office in Arizona. Among the channels will be Bravo HD and Lifetime HD as well as various sports channels such as CBS Sports HD and NFL HD.

Niemann said customers will need all- digital box receivers to access the HD channels.

"Cable ONE customers will receive their first two all digital devices at no charge," Niemann said. "Additional devices will be $5 each per month."

Niemann noted that customers should not expect much interruption in service as the company continues its switch to digital technology.

"The majority of the upgrades will be performed between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday, minimizing service disruptions to customers," Niemann said.

To request a digital box, call 1-877-692-2253 or visit www.cableone.net/alldigital/pages/default.aspx.
