The Major General Patrick R. Cleburne Chapter 2632 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy coordinated an art contest for the fourth grade students during Confederate History Month in April. The students were asked to color pictures of Gen. Lee and Gen. Grant. The contest also involved a reading comprehension portion in which students were asked to write answers to questions based on a paragraph about the War Between the States.

In the Cleburne County School System, UDC Chapter members Willene Huddleston, Patsy Smith, Donna Riddle and Teresa Noell coordinated with the four elementary schools. In the Oxford Schools, UDC members Ann Norton and Jeanette Brewington were responsible. This year, for the first time, all fourth graders in Etowah County participated in this Chapter's April activity, with UDC member Gloria Griggs coordinating.
