Seniors traveled to Talladega for Seniors Day

The Piedmont Clyde Pike Civic Center senior citizens on Friday, May 16, 2013, visited the Talladega Senior Day again. The seniors went last year and enjoyed the trip so much they went back this year.

The seniors departed at 7 a.m. on a van driven by Craig Russell.

The Talladega Senior theme for Senior May Day senior celebration was “unleash the power of age”. Here is a list of events and who’s who of the presentation of ceremonies.

10:10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The program master of ceremonies was Probate Judge Terry Mitchell of Coosa County. The welcome was given by Talladega’s Mayor Larry Barton and invocation was given by Pastor M. Brasher of Ironaton United Methodist Church. The presentation of colors by Anniston High School JROTC- 1st Sgt. James Smyre and the national anthem performed by Judge Ryan Robertson of Cleburne County.

12:35 p.m.

Blessing of the food by Pastor C. Goodwin followed with entertainment by “Pride of Cleburne County” as well other games, activities and door prize drawings. The lunch was enjoyed by all.

The seniors that attended the gala affair were: Brenda Lauler, Mary Huey, Grace Adair, Latatsie Starr, Aggie Harbour, Carol Fairs, and Estelle Diamond.

The seniors are looking forward to next years Senior Day.
