She is planning on going to Ireland with some classmates for Special Projects Feb. 21-March 1, 2014. Special Projects week is a week devoted to learning new things. For one week, students do not have regular classes, but instead they choose a topic, provided by the school, to study.
Some may learn about different cultures, managing money, or study things about downtown Mobile.
“I have chosen to go to Ireland next year,” Alex-Andra said. “We will tour the cities of Dublin, Belfast and Sligo, each where we will study their history and the many legends they hold; explore ancient Ireland, homes of Irish kings, and many different castles.
“We will visit the dockyard where the Titanic was built as well as toiur Trinity College and Book of Kells – a 9th century gospel manuscript.
“This summer I have been doing my best work and have been doing anything I can to raise money in order to go on the trip.”
Alex-Andra has been making and selling all sorts of crafts. She was selling those things at the Spring into Summer Festival recently in downtown Piedmont.
