Anniston police said a man turned himself in Friday for charges that he stole from his employer in April.

Lawrence Clayton Maddox, 43, of Anniston, was charged with felony second-degree theft.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said Maddox charged $1,455 worth of materials to a business account for D&B Metal Roofing Supply on the 400 block of South Leighton Avenue. George said the incident was reported to police by the company on April 16. The company told police the $1,455 of purchased sheet metal and screws were not used on a jobsite, George said.

George said a warrant was issued on May 9 and Maddox turned himself in at the Anniston Police Department on Friday morning.

George was uncertain today if Maddox still worked for the roofing supply company.

Maddox was released on a $5,000 bond from the Anniston City Jail on Friday. A court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 19.
