HOT BLAST: Anniston isn't the only town tinkering with motorcycles

Seems that Anniston isn't the only city figuring out how best to accommodate its annual motorcycle event.

The Sturgis rally is one of nation's best-known biker events and has been held in the South Dakota city for more than three decades. According to the Rapid City Journal, the police chief there -- who seems to welcome the event -- does have some concerns about next month's rally, particularly the adherence to the city's open-container laws.

In light of Anniston's ongoing negotiations over the Rumble on Noble event, it's interesting to read about a city that has much more experience with motorcycle rallies and how it handles problems that may arise.

The paper wrote, "(Police Chief Jim) Bush worries that with the music, motorcycles and all the excitement surrounding the Indian Motorcycle reveal, the Aug. 3 event has the potential to do the same.

"'There’s music and drinking, and a lot of people will get caught up in the atmosphere. We don’t want to ruin the thing by having a big crowd issue,' he said. 'This is going to draw a lot of people. You may not like what happens down there.'"
