A woman told police this morning that she was beaten and robbed during a card game at a friend’s Anniston home.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said the 37-year-old woman told police the incident happened at a home on the 900 block of West 15th Street around 4 a.m. The victim said she accidentally knocked over a bag of cocaine during the card game and everyone in the home yelled at her, George said.

The captain said the victim was thrown out of the house and two women followed her outside, where they pushed her to the ground and kicked her repeatedly. The two suspects stole an unknown amount of money from the victim’s purse and fled, George said. Police recovered the victim’s purse near the home, he said.

The woman suffered swelling around both her eyes and several small cuts to her face. She was treated at Regional Medical Center, George said, and is expected to recover from her injuries.

The incident was still under investigation today, George said.

Any suspects could be charged with felony second-degree robbery, according to a police report.
