TUSCALOOSA -- Wenonah High point guard Justin Coleman committed to play at Alabama on Wednesday, according to multiple online sources. Coleman is the Crimson Tide’s first public commitment for the Class of 2014.

Coleman, a rising senior, made the Alabama Sports Writers Association's Class 5A all-state first team. At 5-foot-10 and 155 pounds, he led the Dragons to a third straight 5A state championship earlier this year, averaging 21 points, eight assists and 4.2 steals as a junior.

“I just made that decision today because I really liked coach (Anthony) Grant and his style and the trust they put in me,” Coleman told al.com. “I feel like it is the right and perfect school for me.”

The recruiting service 247Sports ranks Coleman as the No. 53 player in the nation for 2014. He's considered to be a four-star prospect, and he’s the No. 1 prospect in Alabama for his class.

ESPN’s recruiting rankings have Coleman as the nation’s No. 72 prospect.

He had offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Butler, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Kansas State, Memphis, Tennessee, UAB and Vanderbilt, among others.
