Katrea Valonne Cooley and Algernon Obene O’Brien were married April 20, 2013, at New Birth Christian Center in Oxford. The Rev. Henry Cooley, father of the bride, performed the ceremony. Music was provided by Rachel Charrod, violinist; Karla Sullivan, harpist with soloists Essence Byars and Dontrell Curry.

Parents of the bride are Henry and Rosalind Cooley of Oxford. Parents of the groom are Shirley O’Brien of Jacksonville and the late Elvert O’Brien.

Grandparents of the bride are Kathryn D. Young of Anniston; Marion Phillips Jr. of El Paso, Texas; the late Etta Mae Duff and the late George H. Cooley.

Bridesmaids were Ladoska Young, Brittney Ogles, Doris Cooley and Tyra Cooley.

Groomsmen were LaGreg Thomas, Carl Brown and Michael McDormott. The best man was Joshua Nicholson.

Flower girl was London Safford. Ring bearer was Brody Ogles.

The bride wore an ivory strapless satin gown with beaded bodice and a beaded cathedral train. She carried a bouquet of white and red roses with crystal beads and calla lily swag and ribbons. The reception was held at the Hilton Garden Inn.

After a cruise to Nassau, Bahamas, the couple resides in Jacksonville.
