The Sunshine Club met in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church on Aug. 6. Ronnie Morrow opened with prayer. Hostesses were Janice and Doug Rosser, Helen Godby and Bonnie Lumsden.

Color was the theme of the decorations, with lime green, yellow and orange tablecloths as centerpieces along with bud vases containing daises and other blooms.

August birthday celebrants were Jane Johnston, Fayrene Mobley, Mildred Gresham, Pat Mayne, Ronnie Morrow, Paul Cantor, Frances Kerns, Lois McCord and Bill Camp.

Doug Rosser’s devotion, “World and Policies,” was based on 2nd Chronicles 7:14.

Keena Cox and Tiffanie Eaton from Cherokee Home Health and Hospice presented a program, giving the options offered when a person can no longer care for himself. After offering blood pressure checks, they discussed the importance of these checks, the symptoms of strokes and diabetic problems. They told how walking and exercise are good preventives of each.

The travel committee announced a tour of Sanford University and put out a sign-up sheet.

After  meal enjoyed by 49 members and nine guests, Norma Jones dismissed with prayer.
