We received a call from our granddaughter around 9 p.m. Tuesday saying her car had broken down next to the shopping mall in Montgomery. She is a beautiful 24-year-old recent graduate of Jacksonville State and was on the job, working for the state of Alabama Department of Human Resources.

We were very much concerned about the fact that she was alone and that the mall was closing. My husband, Eli Henderson, called Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson, and in less than 15 minutes a deputy from Montgomery was with our granddaughter and took her to the sheriff’s office, where she was later picked up by our daughter and son-in-law.

If our sheriff had not made that phone call and had not gotten involved, who knows what might have happened? Thank you, sheriff, for always getting involved and trying to help someone, you are the best ever.
