Calhoun County deputies today were investigating an alleged robbery in which a .380-caliber pistol was reported stolen from a Jacksonville home.

According to Lt. Jon Garlick with the Sheriff’s Office, the victim told deputies that from Marsh to August, she had had several workers come to her home on New Liberty Road to help her with renovations. The victim did not hire professional renovators and many different workers had access to her home, the lieutenant said.

The report didn’t say how many workers were at the home over the six month period the lieutenant said.

The victim told deputies the last two people she hired were a boyfriend and girlfriend from Florida, Garlick said. The couple worked on her home for three weeks, the victim said, and after they left she found her pistol missing, the lieutenant said.

Garlick said the victim told deputies that she has not been in contact with them since they left, but she believes they stole her gun.

The gun, made by Davis Arms, is valued at $500, according to a police report.

According to Garlick, deputies searched for evidence and fingerprints at the scene but nothing was found as of this morning.

Any suspect could face felony charges of third-degree burglary, a felony, according to a police report.
