The volleyball Tigers began their area play with a 3-1 win over Munford at home on Thursday of last week. The scores were 25-15, 15-25, 25-18, 25-15.

After dropping matches to Carbon Hill, Ashville, Boaz and Westbrook Christian in a tournament at Lincoln Saturday, Cleburne County got back in the win column with a 3-2 victory over visiting Weaver Monday afternoon. The Tigers won the first set 25-19, the third 25-21 and the fifth 15-11. Weaver won the second set 25-17 and the fourth 25-19.

Now 4-7 overall and 1-0 in area matches, Cleburne County travels to Anniston today for a tri-match that also includes Weaver. Anniston is an area opponent and that match will be a best-of-5 affair. The Tigers go to Munford Monday and host area foe Lincoln Tuesday. The winner of Tuesday’s match will be the early favorite to win the area and the host role for the area tournament.
