WEDNESDAY’S LIST . . . of beans ‘n greens ‘n other things:

SO WHERE will you be Nov. 15, 2063?

Chances are maybe Anniston Memorial Gardens or Edgemont Cemetery, but if all goes as planned, there will be a gathering of the living at the Calhoun County Courthouse to take a look at what it was like on Nov. 15, 2013.

That may be a funny way of inviting you to the courthouse Nov. 15, 2013, which is a Friday.

The plan is to bury a time capsule with a bunch of stuff from now to be hauled out and checked in 50 years. And you are asked to contribute your ideas on what to include in the capsule.

For that, you can get in touch with Circuit Clerk Eli Henderson at 256-231-1760 or the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce at 256-237-3536.

Eli is head of the committee and your input is really sought. One thing I like is the kids out there are being asked to contribute, too. Forms have already been mailed to the 16  high schools.

The “funeral” gets under way at 10 a.m. on Nov. 15 (that’s a Friday) outside the 11th Street entrance to the courthouse and, says Eli, “Refreshments will be served.”

Sounds like a rally neat deal . . . even if I probably won’t be able to make it for the opening like in 2063.

QUOTABLE: A man is already halfway in love with any woman who listens to him.”

       -- Brendan Francis

SPECIAL PEOPLE: Their names are John and Beck Fulmer who lived for a long time at the intersection of Saks Road and Hall’s Chapel.

But before that, at one point, John and Beck lived in a duplex apartment just off 431 in Saks. The Smiths (us) lived in the other apartment and that brief time was a good one with the Fulmers next door.

The reason I tell you that is Friday was John and Beck’s 73rd anniversary. Roll that one around in your mind, huh?

John and Beck now live in Marietta, Ga.

“With love, I forgot,

“There are two ways to fall.”

Name the artist . . . and no cheating by Googling.

And yeah, I really do love the old country music . . . before Garth Brooks ruined it.

TOP TEEN: Meet Abigail Veldhousen, a senior at Anniston High School who will graduate in the spring with an Advanced Academic Diploma with a Career Tech Endorsement.

Abigail carries a 4.0 GPA, has an ACT of 28, and is a member of the National Honor Society. She is also a member of Mu Alpha Theta and is in the FCCLA, HOSA, and FOCUS.

In her spare time, Abigail works in Second Chance and the Special Olympics.

The future calls for UAB in the fall and a transfer later to the Samford School of Pharmacy.

“Abigail is an exceptional young woman who has tremendous potential,” says school counselor Sherry Baxter. “I have no doubt she will be successful in all her endeavors and exceed the expectations we have for her future.”

A proud mom is Wanda Velhousen.

Some cheers for one of AHS’s finest . . .
