TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron may finally be getting the national recognition fans feel he deserves.

McCarron was named one of 16 semifinalists for the Maxwell Award, which goes to the collegiate player of the year. McCarron was also a semifinalist last season when Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o won the award.

McCarron has completed 145 of 209 (69.4 percent) passes for 1,862 yards and 16 touchdowns to just three interceptions.

Add another honor to Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley's resume.

After being named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award on Monday, Mosley was named one of 16 semifinalists for the Bednarik Award, which goes to the nation's most outstanding defensive player.

Mosley leads the team with 59 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss.
