RICHMOND, Ky. -- The Jacksonville State women's basketball team saw its win streak end at two in a row, as Eastern Kentucky used a strong second half to beat the Gamecocks 68-61 on Saturday afternoon at EKU's McBrayer Arena.

The contest featured 11 lead changes and was tied 10 times in the 40-minute contest.

With the game knotted at 57-57 with 2:27 to play, one of the Ohio Valley Conference's top scorers took over for EKU. Marie Carpenter, who shared game-high scoring honors with JSU's Destany McLin with 22 points each, scored seven of her points in the final 2:10 left on the clock after her basket sparked EKU to the win after closing the game on an 11-3 run.

McLin led the Gamecocks (6-14, 2-5 OVC) with her second game of at least 20 points. The Athens native was two points shy of matching her career high and two rebounds from a double-double.

McLin finished the day with a career-high 9-of-16 made field goals and a 4-for-4 outing at the free throw line. JSU's Candace Morton, a Lexington, Ky., native playing in her home state, did not disappoint those in attendance to watch her as she turned in 19 points in 39 minutes of action. She was 7-of-18 from the field, including a pair of 3-point baskets.

Bria'unna Buckner finished with eight points, while Miranda Cantrell added seven points.

Including Carpenter, EKU (10-6, 4-1) had three players card double-figure scoring totals. Pilar Walker tallied 10 points, while Shelly Harper finished with 10 points.

JSU will have a quick turnaround as it will host Tennessee State on Monday at 2 p.m. The Gamecocks will look to avenge a 78-76 overtime loss to the Lady Tigers on Jan. 4 in Nashville, Tenn.
