Madison County 69, Guntersville 55: There were 30 seconds left in regulation, but the Madison County student section already was chanting where its Tigers would play their next game: Birmingham.

In a rematch from last year’s Northeast Regional boys final, the Tigers earned their second straight trip to the Class 4A Final Four in Birmingham. They will meet Dallas County on Wednesday at 7:30 in the state semifinals.

“To come back-to-back down here is really fun,” Madison County coach Bubba Webster said. “I thought we really executed defensively, put pressure on them, turning them over. We talked about wanting to win the turnover game.”

Madison County struggled early but used a 14-0 run and outscored Guntersville 21-6 in the second quarter to pull away.

Tyrell Clary led the Tigers (25-7) with 24 points and was named tournament most valuable player. Sean Edwards managed 15, and Marquise Irvin added 10.

Guntersville (23-6) was led in scoring by Darris Stewart with 15 points. Jordan Brown and Nathaniel Kennedy finished with 13 apiece.
