Oct. 27, 1934, in The Star: Anniston High School climaxed a gala homecoming day with an impressive 35-0 victory over Mignon High School [near Sylacauga, now known as B.B. Comer Memorial High School] at Johnston Field yesterday afternoon. Academic difficulties kept three first-string team members, Bootie Monroe, George Darnell and Allen Scarbrough, off the field, but a couple of running backs made up for the difference lost. Louie Snider and Charlie Stockman, only about 135 pounds each, "showed some hard driving that the bigger backs will do well to remember," said sportswriter Paul Duncan in his account of the game. Charlie Reid, Moon Mullins and Doug Stewart played an alert game at guards.

Oct. 27, 1984, in The Star: Ohatchee's stunning 12-7 upset of the Piedmont Bulldogs — the No. 1-ranked 3A school in Alabama — elicited calm satisfaction and appreciation from Indians coach Tim Sanders. "Our kids won't say this is an upset. We knew all along we could beat them," he said. "Tonight we showed what the Creekbank is all about." Ohatchee's winning passes were from quarterback Todd Hurst to Chris Brown and to Namon Collins.
