Description:

Folk Troubadour Grant Peeples at Peerless Saloon May 11th

Songwriting legend Bobby Braddock says, “He’s like Prine but with a Southern bent.”  His voice has been described as “laced with Cohen, Cash, and Waits.”  Peeples says of himself, “I’m a LeftNeck: a vegetarian that watches NASCAR, a tree-hugger who keeps a gun under the seat.”  It makes for a performance of playful banter & axe-sharp songs, with enough Roger Miller type humor mixed in to balance and lighten the fare.  Peeples will entertain listeners at Peerless Bar & Grille on Saturday May 11th .

His 2012 tour included performances at The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okema, OK, The Living Room in  New York City, and The Triple Door in Seattle. His records, produced by Gurf Morlix (Lucinda Williams, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Robert Earl Keen) have topped Folk/Roots charts in the US and in Europe.

Fans of the sometimes unpredictable (but always entertaining) troubadour’s music will not be disappointed as he performs his usual mix of socio-political anthems and insightful ballads, and offers a sneak listen to songs from his work in progress, a new record to be released in 2014.

Dubbed a “guitar-slinging poet” by Music News Nashville, he will live up to the brand by opening each music set with a selection from his newly released Grant’s Little Read Book of Poetry.

The Saturday May 11th show at Peerless Saloon & Grill starts at 9 pm, and is located at 13 West 10th St.
