Prime Dining open for business

A new casual fine dining restaurant opened this week in Anniston. Prime Dining and Bar on Quintard Avenue specializes in “steaks, chicken and classic dishes with an upscale twist.”

Menu highlights include barbecue-glazed Atlantic salmon, grilled pork tenderloin in a dijon bordelaise sauce, shrimp and grits as well as a roasted red pepper hummus appetizer.

Prime Dining is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mondays can be booked for private parties and the eatery also offers free Wi-Fi.

Southern Foodways has an app for that

If you’re going on a road trip this summer, or just looking for a new place to grab a bite, check out the new app from Southern Foodways Alliance — SFA Stories for the iPhone.

It will point you to all of the establishments owned and run by the SFA’s 800 oral history subjects, including barbecue joints, plate-lunch cafes, bars, butcher shops, farms and more.

The Southern Foodways Alliance’s oral history initiative documents and celebrates the stories of those who grow, create, serve and consume the food and beverages of the American South.

The free app allows users to search by state, oral history project, regional trail or proximity to your current location. Bite
