Police are investigating the shooting death of an Anniston man Thursday night at a home on West 13th Street.

Brian Allen, 35, died of two gunshot wounds to the chest around 10 p.m., in a house down the street from where he lived, according to Calhoun County Assistant Coroner Shane Adrian.

According to a press release from Anniston police, officers responded to a call at about 10 p.m. about an intruder at the home where Allen was found, on the 1600 block of West 13th Street. Allen was found unconscious there and pronounced dead at the scene.

Allen lived on the 1700 block of West 13th Street, “a few doors down” from the shooting scene, Adrian said.

Anniston police Sgt. Josh Doggrell said officers questioned a 62-year-old man who lived at the home where Allen was found, but no arrests have been made. Police have not released the name of the 62-year-old.

Asked whether Allen was the reported intruder and whether the 62-year-old had fired the shot, police said investigators were still working on the case.
