TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama ended its three-game skid with a 64-56 victory over Robert Morris on Saturday in its final non-conference game of the season.

After scoring just 20 points in the first half and trailing by three, the Crimson Tide put up 44 in the second half and outscored Robert Morris by 11 points in the final 20 minutes of the contest.

Alabama used a 11-0 run early in the second half to take the lead and never let up.

“It wasn’t the prettiest of games,” Tide coach Anthony Grant said. “Obviously at the start, we really struggled turning the ball over and finishing plays. … I thought our guys in the second half defensively really made a difference for us.”

The Tide forced 13 second half turnovers for a total of 19. Alabama also outscored Robert Morris 38-20 in the paint, 26-17 in points off turnovers and 12-4 on fast break points. The Tide’s bench contributed 24 points to just six for Robert Morris’ reserves.

Senior point guard Trevor Releford led the way with 18 points and six steals. Guard Retin Obasohan put in 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

The Tide concludes the non-conference portion of the schedule with a below .500 record, by Releford said there are some positives to be taken from the first 13 games of the year.

“Even though we had a lot of losses in the non-conference, I feel like it helped us a lot,” Releford said. “The young guys were able to play in the close games we had. In the SEC, no game is going to be easy. It’s going to be a fight every night. I think it helped the young guys a lot and prepared them for what’s ahead.

“I think they’ll be ready for it and I think everybody on the team will be as well.”

The Tide (6-7) returns to action on Tuesday when Vanderbilt travels to Coleman Coliseum to begin SEC play. ESPNU will televise the game with tip-off scheduled for 8 p.m.
