NEW ORLEANS -- Alabama received a huge bump in recruiting when Beaumont, Texas five-star cornerback Tony Brown choose the Crimson Tide over LSU at the Under Armour game on Thursday.
Brown is the No. 3 rated cornerback, the ninth best player in the nation and the top prospect in the state of Texas for the 2014 class according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Brown was considered a lock to LSU because his sister attends the school, but he ultimately choose the Tide.
At 6-foot-0, 188 pounds, Brown is a two-sport star and is expected to run track at Alabama. Brown runs a 4.35 40-yard dash. He will enroll this month.
The Tide also landed four-star safety Laurence “Hootie” Jones. Jones originally committed to the Tide on Dec. 2 in a public ceremony before de-committing on Dec. 18 via social media.
