TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama hit the practice field in shells to begin its Chattanooga prep.

Here are some takeaways:

--Tight end Brian Vogler (ankle) wore a black, non-contact jersey. Tide coach Nick Saban said Vogler would be "day to day."

--Running back T.J. Yeldon (ankle) was limited during drills. Yeldon stood around and watched the running back drills during the media's viewing period, but wasn't wearing a black, non-contact jersey.

--Tight end O.J. Howard didn't participate in the passing drills. Howard limped around during the media's viewing period.

--Cornerback Deion Belue was seen with the safeties. Belue didn't participate in any drills.

Up next: Select players will address reporters following tomorrow's practice.
