Alabama practice report: Tide begins preparations for Tennessee

TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama hit the practice field for its first day of preparation for Tennessee. 

Here are some takeaways: 

--Cornerback Bradley Sylve (high ankle sprain) did not participate in practice. Sylve wore a black, non-contact jersey and rode a stationary bike. Tide coach Nick Saban said Sylve will be day-to-day during his news conference.

--True freshman running back Altee Tenpenny (turf toe) also wore a black, non-contact jersey and rode a station bike during practice. Saban said he is day-to-day as well. 

--True freshmen quarterbacks Luke Del Rio, Parker McLeod and Cooper Bateman are playing the role of Tennessee quarterback Justin Worley on the scout teams. 

--Some popular defensive scout team numbers: No. 17 (LB Brent Brewer), No. 41 (LB Dontavis Sapp), No. 45 (LB A.J. Johnson), No. 55 (DL Jacques Smith), No. 97 (DL Daniel Hood), and No. 98 (Daniel McCullers).
