First team

P: Dylan Johnson


Sr., 6-0, Oxford

Noteworthy: Johnson held a 6-1 record as Oxford’s No. 2 pitcher, striking out 48 batters over 50 innings of work. The senior had an ERA of 2.03.

P: Payton Sims

Jr., 5-11, Jacksonville

Noteworthy: As the Golden Eagles’ No. 2 pitcher, Sims earned a 6-1 record with a 2.10 ERA.

P: Logan Doss

Sr., 5-8, Alexandria

Noteworthy: The Valley Cubs ace was 6-2 with a 1.98 ERA. Over 60 innings, Doss struck out 58 batters.

C: Jake Whiting

Sr., 6-1, Alexandria

Noteworthy: Whiting led the Valley Cubs with a .480 batting average, 43 RBI, 40 runs, 25 doubles and two home runs. The senior also had one triple and a .532 on-base percentage.

1B: Trent Simpson

Sr., 6-5, Oxford

Noteworthy: Despite a slow start from tearing his ACL in November, Simpson led the Yellow Jackets with 10 home runs, 41 RBI and a .518 on-base percentage. The senior also scored 20 runs and had three doubles.

2B: Shed Long

Sr., 5-8, Jacksonville

Noteworthy: Long was Mr. Do-It-All for the Golden Eagles, earning five wins on the mound with a 1.88 ERA and also batting .474 with a .610 on-base percentage. The senior recorded a team-high 46 hits, 41 RBI, 14 doubles, three triples and two home runs.

3B: Dalton Cobb

Soph., 5-7, Alexandria

Noteworthy: Cobb hit .453 for the Valley Cubs with 15 doubles and 28 runs. Cobb added 32 RBI and hit one home run, helping Alexandria reach the third round of the playoffs.

SS: Joe McGuire

Sr., 6-0, Oxford

Noteworthy: McGuire helped the Yellow Jackets on the mound and at the plate, batting a team-high .438 with 49 hits. The senior scored 39 runs and added 40 RBI, eight doubles and had a .507 on-base percentage.

OF: Sid Thurmond

Soph., 5-5, Jacksonville

Noteworthy: Thurmond was a defensive standout for the Golden Eagles as the team’s center fielder. At the plate, the sophomore hit .407 with 13 doubles and 21 RBI.

OF: Justice Owens

Sr., 5-9, Alexandria

Noteworthy: Owens, the Valley Cubs’ center fielder, used his athleticism to steal 14 bases while batting .405. The senior recorded a team-high 40 runs and four triples while adding eight doubles and 22 RBI.

OF: Colton Turner

Jr., 6-0, Oxford

Noteworthy: Turner brought hitting from the outfield, batting .302 for the Yellow Jackets with a .375 on-base percentage. The junior recorded 16 runs and 21 RBI.

DH: Tanner Sims

Sr., 5-8, Jacksonville

Noteworthy: Sims hit .355 for the Golden Eagles with seven doubles and 25 RBI. He was also the third starter for Jacksonville, who went to the second round of the postseason.

UTIL: Ethan Curvin

Jr., 5-10, Alexandria

Noteworthy: Along with earning six wins and having a 1.68 ERA on the mound, Curvin hit .298 for Alexandria. He scored 29 runs and had 28 RBI while adding four doubles.
