Golf professional Kenny Szuchk and his staff should be commended for the environment and condition of Cane Creek Golf Course. First, Kenny’s painting of the women’s tee markers pink and the hole flags pink during Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a very strong and appropriate act of support. This act sets a tone of awareness greatly appreciated by the golfers playing the course.

Likewise, the condition of the course is the best I have seen in the 40-plus years I have played the course, especially for this late in the year. “Hats off” to Vince and his team for their hard work. Functioning with a minimal staff, their hard work and interest in their course is quite evident.

Our recent Austin Joplin Memorial Golf Tournament was handled with earnest support and care, making it a very successful event. Hopefully, the support of Anniston’s new mayor and City Council may be able to pass some additional fiscal support, making this public course one of the best in northeast Alabama. From myself and many other golfers who play the course, thank you to Kenny and the staff.
