Star Editor Bob Davis is dishonest in his recent column. It seems to me that he once again is taking swipes at conservatives. Also, it looks like he now opposes The Star’s stance of supporting an amendment in September that The Star said hold your nose and pull the lever yes. This is confusing, an “I was for it before I was against it” type deal.
Davis criticizes the performance of the Republicans, who’ve had less than two years to fix much of what the Democrats had done in 136 years of running Alabama. Fairness would give the Republicans equal time to have a comparable record to judge.
We need our taxes spent more wisely. We don’t need to pay more — The Star’s favorite idea is to raise taxes on the rich — with no expectation of improvement in performance by government agencies, particularly the education system, which is 76 percent of the total state budget.
