The Dothan City School Board made major cuts to its budget Monday, reducing personnel costs by more than $6 million by eliminating positions, funding other positions with capital funds as well as revising at what rate new teachers will be paid and how current teachers will receive step increases. The board cut nearly 108 positions, including teachers, administrators and support staff. Of the positions cut, about 60 belonged to tenured teachers and staff who will be reassigned to other positions in the system that were made vacant last month when the board non-renewed or terminated 61 teachers and 131 support personnel.
