Local, state, national and international charities designated by the donors as recipients of these contributions will receive CFC disbursements from April 2010 to March 2011, the release said.
Most donations were deducted from employee payrolls, the release said.
The East Alabama CFC is made up of federal employees in six counties—Calhoun, Cleburne, Etowah, Randolph, Talladega and Tallapoosa counties. Federal agencies participating in CFC include the Anniston Army Depot, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Post Office, Social Security Administration, Federal Correctional Institution and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Donors can direct their money to more than 2,000 charities.
